Lightness, fresh colours and flowers usually come to mind when one thinks of Spring and Summer. However, the fashion collections are becoming both non-seasonal and non-gender specific so these antique botanical drawings of unusual foliage and flowers are the perfect inspiration for Spring Summer 2019. Intensely dark bloodleaves, with their striped structures echo dramatic shimmering stripes in saturated shades.  In contrast, the lightness of the Madagascan lattice leaves and white flowers embody the fragility of semi-transparent white graphic textiles. Oriental hyacinths in inky shades of navy with white inspire blue and white striped designs while the electric blue of wild flowes will give modern checked patterns pure punch. Needless to say, we can’t forget the need for fresh flowers in vivid colours which will also be strong players this season.
