As the seasons are starting to merge, and both menswear and womenswear collections are being presented in a single show, there will be growing desire to express oneself as an individual. Self-expression, like an artist’s composition, can take many different forms. Autumn Winter 2018 / 19 will offer a range of highly creative and innovative textiles for designers to create their canvases. This will include textured qualities in either a somber colour palette of charcoal on ecru or in painterly blocks of rich colours. Checks in all sizes will have a brushed finish to create an overall blurring effect and the striking colours in mini-patterns will be likened to the intense marks made with oil pastels. Luminous textiles, with rippling surfaces, will appear to have been dipped in the darkest shades of ink. It is time for us to curate our wardrobes in our own unique way, to become the artists of our own identity and to celebrate new creative developments in woven textile design.
